Benefits of Displaying Your Artwork in the Arts Alliance Center or By Hand Gallery

Thank you for your interest in becoming an artist on display! Our galleries are proud to display the work of local artists featuring a variety of artwork, ranging from paintings and sculpture to photography and mixed media. The gallery offers a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their work to the community, and allows the community to appreciate and purchase work from artists. In addition, there is also a space for artists to interact with each other and exchange ideas.

Application Process

The Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington is always looking for new artists to display their work at our Alliance Center and By Hand Galleries. If you're interested in becoming a displaying artist, there is the process:

1. Become a member of the Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington (AAGB).

2. Jury of work. Your work must be juried in by a panel of AAGB members. The jury process usually occurs once a week, and it is based on the type of work you presented for jurying. Applicants need to bring three to five pieces in to be juried (the pieces must be physically present). Asking for the digital images is simply to give us a preview to see if your work fits in the gallery.

3. If your work is juried in, it will be displayed at the gallery for a specific period of time.

What do you get

By becoming an artist on display, you basically rent the space with a 6 month contract.

Note:

• If your work is 2D, it must be ready to hang with wire (no sawtooth).

• If you are a 2D artist you will be assigned approximately 3 ft of wall space which you can use from floor to ceiling.

• If you are a 3D artist you will have an equivalent amount of space.
